چکیده

T cells with variable region Vä1ãä T cell receptors (TCRs) are distributed throughout the human intestinal epithelium and may function as sentinels that respond to self antigens. The expression of a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I-related molecule, MICA, matches this localization. MICA and the closely related MICB were recognized by intestinal epithelial T cells expressing diverse Vä1ãä TCRs. These interactions involved the á1á2 domains of MICA and MICB but were independent of antigen processing. With intestinal epithelial cell lines, the expression and recognition of MICA and MICB could be stress-induced. Thus, these molecules may broadly regulate protective responses by the Vä1ãä T cells in the epithelium of the intestinal tract. Major histocompatibility complex class II antigen (HLA-DR) expression by ileal epithelial cells in patients with seronegative spondylarthropathy.

Major histocompatibility complex molecules act as non-specific receptors for antigenic proteins and present them to T-cells. Presented antigen together with class II molecules activates antigen specific T-helper cells and may trigger a cellular immune response. The expression of HLA-DR antigens by epithelial cells was examined with an indirect peroxidase technique in ileal biopsies from 38 pati...

EXPRESSION OF INDUCIBLE NITRIC OXIDE SYNTHASE GENE (iNOS) STIMULATED BY HYDROGEN PEROXIDE IN HUMAN ENDOTHELIAL CELLS

Inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) gene expresses a calcium calmudolin-independent enzyme which can catalyse NO production from L-arginine. The induction of iNOS activity has been demonstrated in a wide variety of cell types under stimulation with cytokines and lipopoly saccharide (LPS). Previous studies indicated that all nitric oxide synthases (NOS) activated in human umbilical vein endot...

The effect of bovine viral diarrhea virus on bovine monocyte phenotype

Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is an economically important pathogen of the livestock industry worldwide. BVDV is classified into cytopathic (cp) and noncytopathic (ncp), depending on its effects on cultured cells. BVDV is known to alter the host’s immune response. Of this, major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II molecules play a central role in the development and function of the i...

A Signal Peptide Derived from hsp60 Binds HLA-E and Interferes with CD94/NKG2A Recognition

Human histocompatibility leukocyte antigen (HLA)-E is a nonclassical major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecule which presents a restricted set of nonameric peptides, derived mainly from the signal sequence of other MHC class I molecules. It interacts with CD94/NKG2 receptors expressed on the surface of natural killer (NK) cells and T cell subsets. Here we demonstrate that HLA-E al...
